Mating rituals for scorpions vary from simple, to very complex. The male will usually grasp the female's chela in his, then begin the mating dance, where he will look for a suitable place to deposit his spermatophore. He will then continue the dance until he positions the female over the spermatophore. The female is then in position to deposit it inside the genital operculum. More complex rituals may involve sexual stings, chelicaleral "kisses", dominance displays and so forth.
