Cockroaches are a common feeder item for many inverts and reptiles. Roaches have many benefits as a feeder, they have long lifespans, breed fairly easily, and are much more full bodied with arguably better meat to shell ratio than crickets. Some species that are popular as feeders would be Blaptica dubia (Orange Spotted Guyana roach), Nauphoeta cinerea (lobster roach), Gromphradorhina portentosa (Madagascar hissing roach), Eublaberus prosticus (Orange Head roach), Blaberus discoidales (Discoid roaches), Blatta lateralis (Turkistan roach). Some of these species even lack the ability to climb glass and plastic, fly, or even jump.
